Annual Perseid Meteor Shower Peak On Weekend - Live Telecast by NASA

Annual Perseid Meteor Shower Peak
The Perseid meteor shower is just hours away. But you've got work, or the weekend's honey-do list keeping you from dropping everything and heading out to Joshua Tree for an unobstructed look at the dazzling display.

Well, you're in luck. NASA is hosting a viewing and Web chat tonight starting at 8 Pacific, giving you a front-row seat to Mother Nature's hotly anticipated fireworks show.

The shower's peak this weekend unfortunately coincides with a full moon, meaning the spectacular display -- tiny streaks of light skyrocketing across the sky -- might not be as dramatic.

Enter NASA, and a live video/audio feed of the Perseid shower as viewed from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., giving you the best seat in the house. And you won't be alone: NASA astronomer Bill Cooke and his team from the flight center will answer your questions via a live Web chat.
