Zdeno Chara To Be Questioned By Montreal Police After Hit On Max Pacioretty
Jun 28, 2011 - The series between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffsseems like a distant memorynow, a mere bump in the road in the Bruins' journey totheir first Stanley Cup since 1972.
Sadly, B's captain Zdeno Chara will have to relive the most horrifying part of that series all over again, as Montreal Police still want to question Chara following his hit on Max Pacioretty of the Canadiens.
Chara knocked Pacioretty into the edge of the boards, which resulted in a severe concussion and a fractured vertebrae. Chara was not suspended for the hit, causing a stir with Canadiensfans, who called the police to seek a criminal charge against him.
Montreal Police said that they would wait until the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to question Chara, and with the season in the books, they are close to the end of their investigation.

Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon The 3D IMAX Experience Review
Well, it’s yet another chapter of the Autobots versus the evil Decepticons for the fate of Earth as we know it in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg, Dark of the Moon is the third movie of the Transformers series, which is of course based on Hasbro’s Transformers Action Figures.
All of your favorite Autobots are back: Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide, Sideswipe, and the leader Optimus Prime. They’ve been protectors of the human race and have been aiding the US in keeping peace…that is, until the Autobots return. When both the Autobots and Decepticons discover what’s hidden in the dark side of the moon, chaos breaks out in an even more intense battle than we’ve seen. You’ll meet some new characters too, including a new villain, Shockwave.
Pretty much the entire cast is back with one exception: bad girl Megan Fox. She was replaced by the very beautiful Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Fox was hardly missed. There’s a quick mention in the movie that her character dumped Shia LeBeouf’s character, Sam Witwicky…and some how he pulls off this new ‘fox’ of a girlfriend. It did not seem like the plot changed much for the role replacement.
There are also a few special guests that we were glad to see, most notably Buzz Aldrin, one of the first men to walk on the moon. Other new actors include John Malkovich, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong, Frances McDormand, and even a brief appearance by Bill O’Reilly.

Shia LaBeouf couldn't keep his eyes - or lips - off his girlfriend yesterday in Studio City, California.
The Transformers star, 24, put on a very public display of affection with Karolyn Pho as they grabbed lunch and smoothies.
Shia, casual in jeans and a T-shirt, wrapped his arm around stylist Karolyn, 22, as they strolled along before planting a lingering kiss on her as they waited to cross the street.
The actor tore his eyes away from Karolyn, who looked summery in a print maxi dress, long enough to cross the road to Sweet Butter Cafe, where they enjoyed a leisurely lunch.
Shia gazed at his girlfriend as they sat outside at the restaurant, a favourite of theirs that they visit frequently.
The pair went public with their romance in February but have been linked since December, a month after Shia split from his Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps co-star Carey Mulligan.
Their lunch at Sweet Butter Cafe clearly didn't fill them up, as the couple then went on to Jamba Juice, where they continued their public canoodling as they waited for their smoothies.
Shia and Carey, who dated for 18 months, announced their split in November and Carey has since moved on with British theatre actor, Eddie Redmayne.

New York moves to become 6th state to legalize gay marriage
New York's Republican-controlled legislature cleared the way Friday to legalize same-sex marriage with a 33-to-29 vote, sending the bill to the governor's desk for his approval.
The vote came after days of delays that saw last-minute lobbying on all sides, passing by a slim margin with Republican support -- the first time a state legislature with a Republican majority has approved such a bill.
Once Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who proposed the bill, signs it, same-sex couples will be able to marry within 30 days.
"New York has finally torn down the barrier that has prevented same-sex couples from exercising the freedom to marry and from receiving the fundamental protections that so many couples and families take for granted," Cuomo, a Democrat, said in a written statement shortly after the vote.
Anna Nicole Smith inheritance claim shot down by Supreme Court
Yes, "Anna Nicole Smith" and "Supreme Court" were just mentioned in the same irony-free sentence.
Smith had sued the estate of her late husband, who died in 1995 at 90 after the two had been married for only a year, maintaining she had been promised $400 million. Smith, born Vickie Lynn Hogan, was 26 when she married the elder Marshall, then 89. Primary heir Pierce Marshall had disagreed with her claim, because his dad's will hadn't mentioned the former Playboy model, stripper and soft-core actress who in February 2008 would die of an overdose.
Smith sued in Texas probate court, where she lost, and California bankruptcy court, where she won. The dispute over which court had the right to actually make such a decision then worked its way through appelate courts, finally landing with the Supremes.
Word from Washington? The bankruptcy court blew it — which means Smith's complaint can finally rest in peace.
Smith, whose son Daniel Smith died of an overdose at age 20 in September 2006, is survived by daughter Dannielynn, whose father was not Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband nor Smith attorney and partner Howard K. Stern but rather one Larry Birkhead, who is raising the toddler as a single dad.

Here Are Some New Details On The iPhone 5
Bloomberg dug up some new details on the iPhone 5, which it says is coming in September. Some of them are already out there:
The iPhone 5 will include a faster chip, the A5, that Apple is using with the iPad 2
The camera resolution will improve to 8 megapixels, from 5 megapixels
The iPhone 5 release was delayed until September to wait for the iOS 5 release. (This is the first time we have heard an explanation for this delay.)
Apple is developing a cheaper "low-end" iPhone for developing countries that will be similar to today's iPhone 4. This will help the company compete with the Android onslaught.
The iPad 3, meanwhile, will likely have better screen resolution and a more responsive touchscreen.
IDC is projecting that Android will have more than twice the global market share as the iPhone by the end of the year: 40% for Android versus 18% for iPhone. This makes the cheaper iPhone even more important.

Hong Kong tycoon pays 2 mn bonus over baby joy
Lee Shau-kee, chairman of the leading property group Henderson Land Development, announced the windfall of HK$10,000 ($1,285) for employees to celebrate the baby boy who was born last week, said spokeswoman Bonnie Ngan.
"We will receive the money at the end of this month," a cheerful Ngan told AFP. The 83-year-old Lee, ranked 28th on the Forbes' list of billionaires and estimated to be worth $19 billion, has five children. The latest family addition comes from his youngest son, Martin, who is married to actress Cathy Chui. The boy's name is not yet known.
The couple already have two daughters.
It's not the first time that Lee has announced such a bonus for staff. In October he handed out HK$10,000 bonus to employees when his eldest son Peter, a bachelor, gave him triplet grandsons through a surrogate mother.

Pilot: 'Gays, Grannies and Grandes' in Chicago
"Eleven f***ing over-the-top f***ing a** f***ing homosexuals and a granny. Eleven! I mean, think of the odds of that," the unidentified pilot said during a March flight.
He was talking to his co-pilot after take off from Houston about his attempts at having a nightlife with Southwest Airlines crew members laying over in Chicago, a city he called "party land."
The pilot labeled his Chicago-based flight crew as a "continuous stream of gays and grannies and grandes."
"So in six months I went to the bar three times; in six months, three times. Once with the granny and the f*g, and I wished I hadn't gone," he said.
What the pilot didn't apparently know what that everything he was saying was being transmitted over an open microphone on the air traffic control frequency. Controllers and pilots heard it all and tried several times to curb the dialogue.
"OK, someone has a stuck mic and telling us about all their endeavors and we don't need to hear that," a controller is heard saying.
The airline suspended the pilot without pay, forced him to take sensitivity training and the put him back in the cockpit.
In a statement, the airline said the actions of the pilot are, "without question, inconsistent with the professional behavior and overall respect that we require from our employees."
TWU Local 556, which says it represents 9,400 flight attendants at Southwest Airlines, said the attendants are "deeply disappointed and angered by the insensitive and unprofessional comments," CNN reported.

Robbie Williams comforts Joss Stone
The Take That star invited the songstress to one of the band’s gig in Cardiff, Wales, on Thursday night after learning about the alleged plot to kidnap her.
Robbie reportedly used his cheeky sense of humour to cheer the stunning star up after her traumatic week.
"Robbie and Joss have been mates for years. He got straight on the phone to see if she was OK and invited her to Wales,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. "She's still in shock but Robbie did his best to put a smile back on her face. His cheeky chappy side was in overdrive when they met up after the gig. She was making light of it too, joking that it's been like an episode of Midsomer Murders."
Kevin Liverpool, 33, and Junior Bradshaw, 30, both from Manchester, England, were charged by Devon and Cornwall Police with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. The pair were found near the star’s home in a Devon village on Tuesday with a car that contained an arsenal of weapons as well as rope, a sword and a body bag.
They also had aerial pictures and maps of Joss’ property, and were originally arrested as it was thought they were planning to rob her.

Amy Winehouse's gig in Belgrade has been called the worst concert ever to take place in the city. Even Serbian defence minister Dragan Sutanovac put the boot in, calling it "a huge shame and a disappointment".
Audience members have inundated YouTube with clips from the concert showing a sozzled Winehouse leading a startled backing dancer to sing Valerie, taking her shoe off for no apparent reason, and giving up halfway through Just Friends in order to introduce the band – whose names she struggles to remember.
Much has been made of the fact that audience members paid £35 a ticket in a country where the average wage is £274 a month – though that is hardly her fault.
Yet was the gig really that bad? While addiction is clearly no laughing matter, the elements of the gig Winehouse is being pilloried for are praised in other musicians. As music critic Simon Price pointed out on Twitter, when Bob Dylan renders his back catalogue unrecognisable, as he did in London's Finsbury Park at the weekend, people think he's a maverick genius. When Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner stops singing Mardy Bum and lets the crowd take over, people applaud it as a communal moment. When Robbie Williams has a wardrobe malfunction – according to the Sun, his penis fell out onstage in Dublin – it's a laugh rather than a cause for concern.
Winehouse is now typecast as a troubled diva. Yet watching her rendition of Back to Black on YouTube, to my ears it's not even that bad. Sure she sings around the tune, but she's always done that – she's a jazz singer. Her rendition of Just Friends is listless (to put it mildly), but it never had much of a tune in the first place. Though admittedly hindered by booze, the musician in Winehouse is still trying to put a new spin on songs she must be heartily sick of by now. If the people of Belgrade wanted note-perfect versions, perhaps they should have stayed at home and listened to the records.
Jean Danker engaged to Glenn Ong
"He put a ring on it!" Jean Danker first announced to friends and fans via Twitter in the wee hours on Saturday morning.
A rather inconspicuous tweet if not for the exclamation mark, considering the sexy ex-bachelorette has just been proposed to with a 1.75-carat Lazare solitaire engagement ring.
In an interview with xinmsn in February last year, Glenn had said "I think I can propose anytime already" and that if he proposes, he wants to do it the right way.
Indeed, the man kept his word. Knowing how attached Jean is to her parents, the loving Glenn went on not one but two bended knees, and popped the million dollar question last Friday night at Jean's parents' house.
"In the cutest manner, he asked, "Will you marry me?" with the biggest grin on his face and earnest puppy dog eyes!" Jean reminisced, "I said yes immediately, no pregnant pause!" (Laughs)
Yesterday, when xinmsn spoke to the newly-engaged Jean in a telephone interview, she sounded composed despite the oodles of joy from a surprise weekend engagement. "I'm almost a little shy about it," Jean said.
Apparently, it was only a couple of weeks back that Glenn "asked my parents for my hand" and got their approval. Jean's parents then played along pretending not to know about his proposal.
"It [the proposal] came as a surprise! It's great. I'm really happy," Jean shared, "We've talked a lot about marriage, not too long ago, but I didn't think it'll be so soon!"
"But I've been very chilled about it, actually. It's my girlfriends who are more excited!"
No wedding date has been set yet for the couple who's been dating for over two years now. Jean said, "We haven't thought about anything yet. It could be soon or it could be a long engagement!"
The soon-to-be Mrs Ong mused, "I always recognise [that] it's him and me. It could be a simple ceremony or a grand wedding, regardless, I'd still be very happy."
Glenn was previously married to fellow deejays Kate Reyes for three years and Jamie Yeo for five years, until their high-profile separation in 2009.

Singapore – Today, at an event webcast around the world, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop demonstrated how the company is making significant progress on the new strategy it laid out earlier this year. From smartphones to mobile phones, from services to user interface design, and from improved device experiences to developer tools, Nokia outlined concrete actions for growth and taking leadership across the board.
“Earlier this year, we outlined a comprehensive strategy to change our course,” said Stephen Elop, president and CEO of Nokia. “Innovation is at the heart of our strategy, and today we took important steps to demonstrate a new pace of innovation at Nokia. It’s the beginning of a new era for Nokia.”
In mobile phones, Nokia introduced three new affordable devices – the Nokia C2-02, Nokia C2-03 and Nokia C2-06. The portfolio includes dual and single SIM options, and all three models offer a new, advanced web and maps experience for Series 40 phone users, as well as the choice of a touch screen or a keypad.
Nokia also restated its commitment to Symbian. This July, Nokia will start shipping Nokia N8s, E7s, C7s and C6-01s with the new Symbian Anna software update, which includes a number of user experience improvements. By the end of August, existing owners of these devices can also download Symbian Anna. And over the next 12 months Nokia plans to bring up to 10 new Symbian-based smartphones to market.
Nokia also revealed its latest smartphone: the Nokia N9, an all-screen device with three home views and a new user interface navigated through a simple swipe of the finger. The Nokia N9 comes in a polycarbonate design that enables superior antenna performance for better reception, better voice quality and fewer dropped calls; and a smarter all-round experience with NFC for sharing and pairing to accessories. The Nokia N9 will drive new innovation in the consumer experience, and inspire developers to build more powerful Qt applications.
The Qt framework is at the core of Nokia’s existing smartphone product line, and today there are more than 100 million Nokia Qt devices worldwide. Ovi Store consumers are downloading an increasing number of Qt applications, including in high-growth markets like Asia-Pacific. Tapping into this trend, Nokia will make Qt core to building applications that connect the next billion users to the internet. For Qt developers, this will mean a dramatic increase in reach and opportunity during the coming years.

Raven Symone Reveals Her Weight Loss Secret
Raven-Symoné, the 25 year old singer and actress who played Oliva in The Cosby Show, recently opened up to Vibe Magazine about her dramatic weight loss as well as the fact that it didn’t boost her confidence a bit.
Symoné, who also goes by just Raven, also admitted that the amount of attention and praise that her new slender figure attracts is quite humorous.
“I find it funny that people now come up to me and say, ‘Wow, you are absolutely gorgeous. I’m like, ‘I was beautiful before I lost weight. Egotistically speaking, I thought I was amazing.’” When talk show host Wendy Williams asked Symone for her figure slimming secret, the former That’s So Raven star replied “less stress.”
