McIlroy dating Wozniacki?

Caroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy
U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy's relationship is over with his girlfriend, Holly Sweeney, amid speculation that he and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki are now an item.

"Rory McIlroy's long-term relationship with Holly Sweeney came to an amicable end before the British Open," an International SportsManagement spokesman said Monday.

Photos were posted on the Internet of McIlroy and Wozniacki apparently kissing Sunday night in London. The photos were removed later.

McIlroy, who won the U.S. Open last month, finished tied for 25th place Sunday at the British Open. The tournament was won by his ISM stablemate and fellow countryman Darren Clarke.

LLEYTON Hewitt hit by ranking slump

bec-cartwright-lleyton-hewitt

LLEYTON Hewitt's world ranking has blown out to No. 130 in the week before Wimbledon - his worst position in 13 years.

The Australian slipped 57 places in the latest rankings released on Monday after he failed to defend his ATP title in Halle last week. The last time the 30-year-old had a worse singles ranking was in October, 1998.

Injuries have greatly hampered Hewitt's ability to contest tournaments in the past 12 months. The 30-year-old only returned to action in Halle last week after foot surgery. The former world No. 1 collected straight-sets wins against Argentine qualifier Leonardo Mayer and Italian Andreas Seppi before losing a tight quarter-final to Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

French Open 2011: World No1 Caroline Wozniacki crashes out

When Caroline Wozniacki joined Kim Cljsters on the outside looking in at this French Open – the first time the No1 and No2 seeds have failed to reach the last 16 of a women's slam in the Open era – she was as embarrassed as the Belgian, but a little tetchier. It's not a great look for the women's game, especially following the earlier exit of last year's finalist Sam Stosur, who lost to Gisela Dulko.

Wozniacki's tennis was all over the place against the 28th-seeded Daniela Hantuchova, who won with startling ease, 6-1, 6-3. "She played very, very well today, better than me," she said. "She was just too good."

Asked if these defeats illustrated depth or weakness across women's tennis, she said: "There's a lot of great players out there. Kim had a tough loss yesterday, I had a tough loss today. Since we're No1 and two, it means that we must be doing something right."

Despite never having won a slam, Wozniacki will keep the crown going into Wimbledon unless the third seed, Vera Zvonareva, wins here and at Eastbourne. "When I was younger, people told me, you'll never be a top player, you're from Denmark, we don't have the mentality. And, you know, it really doesn't matter. I know what I'm capable of. I know I'm a great player. I'm doing well. I had a loss today. That's what happens. I'll be back even better."

Anna Kournikova joins 'Biggest Loser' as celebrity trainer for next season

Anna Kournikova

The Biggest Loser has netted a new celebrity trainer: Tennis star Anna Kournikova will join NBC’s popular weight-loss competition next season, a network spokesperson confirmed today. The 29-year-old Russian is filling the slot that is being vacated by Jillian Michaels —  who announced her impending departure back in December — though the Biggest Loser team is not viewing Kournikova as a substitute. “We intentionally tried to not replace Jillian,” executive producer Todd Lubin told Vulture, which first reported the news about Kournikova, who appeared on an episode during Biggest Loser’s tenth season.

The direction of the show will be “getting slightly away from just the tape measure, and getting into overall well-being and health,” added Lubin. “That’s where Loser needs to go.” UPDATE: An NBC spokesperson also confirmed to EW that current Biggest Loser trainers Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova, who joined the series this year, will not return for season 12. The season 11 finale airs tonight.
